Journal: Loneliness in the Modern World

"Loneliness is the price we have to pay for being born in this modern age, so full of freedom, independence, and our own egotistical selves." (page 30, Sensei)

I definitely agree with this quote to an extent. In my everyday life, I am frequently lonely even though I am surrounded by people in school. Everybody is always on their phones instead of talking or hanging out with each other. I am guilty of this as well, because if nobody wants to talk and is on their phones, I will not bother them. Even though this world is very advanced, I do not believe it is all great like people explain it to be. We are definitely "together" but "alone".
